The Farm

If you’re looking for a unique experience that combines delicious food, stunning scenery, and sustainable farming, then you won’t want to miss out on The Farm. Located just a short drive from Byron Bay, this picturesque farm is home to a range of organic crops, free-range animals, and a world-class restaurant.

For breakfast, head to the on-site restaurant, where you’ll find a range of wholesome options made from farm-fresh ingredients. From hearty bacon and egg rolls to fresh fruit salads and house-made granola, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to try their famous sourdough bread, baked fresh daily and served with locally sourced butter and honey.

After breakfast, stroll around the farm to see the animals up close. And you can also explore the fields where your food is grown. You can even join a guided tour to learn more about sustainability and organic farming practices. With its stunning views, delicious food, and commitment to sustainable practices, The Farm is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a truly unique breakfast experience in Byron Bay.

Tip: Have the most epic start to your day and enjoy sunrise views of Byron Bay and the Hinterland from a Hot Air Balloon, followed by breakfast at The Farm with this incredible tour.

Folk

For those seeking a cozy and relaxed atmosphere, Folk is the ideal cafe to unwind and recharge. Its rustic interior and outdoor seating area nestled in a leafy garden make it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Whether you’re a vegan or a meat-lover, there’s something for everyone on the menu. Choose from signature dishes like the Sweet Pea Falafel Bowl or the hearty Folk Breakfast for a satisfying meal. But if you’re in the mood for something sweet, their vegan and gluten-free cakes are not to be missed. Don’t forget to pair your meal with one of their delicious smoothies or freshly squeezed juices.

Folk’s commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at their ingredients. The cafe even uses eco-friendly products like bamboo cutlery and biodegradable takeaway containers to minimize their impact on the environment.

As soon as you finish up your meal, take a moment to soak in the cozy ambiance of Folk. With its mismatched furniture and warm lighting, the quaint cafe feels like a home away from home.

Vagabond

Vagabond is a great cafe for those looking for a simple breakfast experience in the industrial area of Byron Bay. More specifically, Vagabond is located in Habitat, an excellent hangout for visitors staying at Elements Hotel.

With an eclectic and creative menu, Vagabond offers a range of dishes catering to even the most discerning of tastes. The cafe’s hip decor and trendy atmosphere make a perfect backdrop to enjoy your morning coffee or tea. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their signature dish, the smashed avocado toast, or indulge in their delectable pancakes, served with a healthy serving of fresh fruits and syrup. Wash it all down with a refreshing cold-pressed juice, superfood smoothie or a signature coffee blend.

Bario

Just a stone’s throw away from Vegabond lies Bario, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Bario’s eclectic menu is a reflection of the town’s diverse community. Here you can find dishes like the Middle Eastern-inspired shakshuka and the Japanese-influenced okonomiyaki. But what sets this cafe apart is its commitment to using locally-sourced and organic ingredients, ensuring every bite is bursting with fresh, seasonal flavours.

As you savour your meal, take a moment to appreciate the rustic yet modern decor of Bario. With its exposed brick walls and minimalist wooden furniture, the cafe exudes an effortless style that’s quintessentially Byron Bay.

But the real standout feature of Bario is its outdoor seating area! Perfect for soaking up the sun while enjoying your beverage of choice. Bario takes its coffee seriously, working with local roasters to source the highest quality beans. They also meticulously brew using different techniques to bring out the unique flavours of each blend. Once you’ve had your caffeine fix, wander the shops in the Habitat complex.

Their menu features a range of dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, including their signature dish, the Bayleaf Breakfast Bowl. This nourishing bowl is packed with wholesome goodness, including quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, and a soft-boiled egg.

But if you’re in the mood for something sweet, indulge in their ricotta pancakes drizzled with maple syrup and topped with fresh berries. Their coffee is also a must-try, made with locally roasted beans that are ground fresh every morning.

Combi

If you’re looking for a sustainable and healthy eating experience, Combi is the perfect place for you. Located just down the street from Bay Leaf Cafe, Combi prides itself on serving up plant-based foods, including delicious smoothie bowls and raw treats. Indulge in their famous Acai Bowl or scrambled tofu with avocado toast for a nourishing and satisfying meal.

Additionally, for those who are looking for a super cool place to chill out, Combi has got you covered. The atmosphere is laid-back and feels like a Bali surf shack. Eat at the wooden tables and admire a surfboard hanging on the wall, and rattan lanterns. You can take your time sipping your smoothie or enjoying one of their raw treats while basking in the natural light that floods the cafe.

Among the best Byron Bay cafes is Top Shop, a trendy café that perfectly embodies the laid-back and bohemian vibe of the town. The cafe offers a wide selection of tasty breakfast foods like bacon and egg rolls, fresh pastries, and more. Coffee lovers will be particularly impressed by their expertly crafted espresso drinks, which are made from locally sourced beans. From smoothie bowls and salads to cold-pressed juices and vegan treats, there’s something for everyone on the menu. And if you need an extra boost, try one of their signature elixirs or tonics.

Their patio tables are the place to be seen and to people-watch. Otherwise, for a comfortable and more intimate experience, ask to sit inside.

Sunday Sustainable Bakery

This charming bakery is dedicated to using organic and sustainable ingredients to create delicious pastries, bread, cakes, and more. From classic croissants to innovative vegan options like almond butter and jelly doughnuts, Sunday Sustainable Bakery offers a wide range of treats that satisfy any sweet tooth. And the best part? You can enjoy them without worrying about their impact on the environment. After all, sustainability is the name of the game here.

Tip: Not surprising is that most cafes close around 2 pm or 3pm. But if you need a caffeine hit after that, Sunday Sustainable Bakery is open until 5 pm, which is later than most (if not all other) cafes in Byron Bay.

The General Store

The General Store is out of the centre of town but is a must-visit destination for any Byron Bay coffee lover. This iconic cafe was initially established in 1947 as a small general store. Over the years, it has changed many owners and names, but the original structure remains.

This charming establishment offers a small but healthy menu and a small store where you can browse a selection of artisanal products. You can find handcrafted ceramics, trendy merchandise, and even dried flower bouquets here. Grab a cup of their delicious coffee or a smoothie bowl, and relax in their cozy outdoor seating area. The General Store’s laid-back vibe makes it the perfect spot to unwind and soak up the laid-back Byron Bay atmosphere.

Roadhouse

Nestled on the outskirts of Byron Bay lies Roadhouse, a local hotspot that’s a must-visit to try. The café’s industrial-chic décor and vintage furnishings create a relaxing atmosphere perfect for enjoying coffee or indulging in one of their famous savoury crepes with leek and béchamel sauce.

But what sets Roadhouse apart from the other cafes in town is their commitment to using locally sourced and sustainable ingredients in their dishes. From their mouth-watering breakfast bowls to their Roady Scramble, every bite is a culinary adventure that celebrates the region’s flavours.

On my last few visits to Roadhouse, I tried their butter coffee and iced MCT oil coffee and was blown away by how creamy they tasted without any milk. If you are into intermittent fasting or keto coffees, give these a go!

Tip: Be sure to check out their website or Instagram for special events.
